"Friends Helping Seniors, Inc." (Friends) is a private, non-profit organization created to raise and provide funding for services for the seniors of the City of Woburn. The purpose of "Friends" is to promote, foster, encourage and sponsor activities such as transportation services, Senior Center programs, domestic services and educational opportunities.
"Friends" works cooperatively with the Woburn Council on Aging to provide services to the seniors of Woburn. A mutual goal is to expand upon the current programs offered at the Woburn Senior Center.
The Senior Center offers numbers programs and services including:
Tax Assistance SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders) Podiatrist Blood Pressure Monitoring Woodcarving BINGO, Whist, Cribbage, Scrabble, Hand and Foot card game Support Groups "Eating Together" Lunch Program Gift Shop Fix-It Shop Ceramics Quilting/Fabric, Crafts
Day trips and special events are offered throughout the year.
All are invited to attend the monthly meeting of "Friends", scheduled the Thursday following the Council on Aging meeting (generally the first Thursday of the month) at 10am. For further information, call 781-897-5960.
Golden Gift Shop - located at the Woburn Senior Center.
The shop will be open every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10am to 2pm at 144 School Street. Gift quality donations are welcome.
